Switching agents

Change your London letting agent without upsetting the tenancy

Landlords often stay with an agent they are unhappy with because switching looks complicated. Usually it is manageable: the key is reading your current terms, transferring the deposit and records properly and telling the tenant clearly. We plan the handover with you.

  • Current agreement reviewed
  • Deposit and records transferred
  • Tenant informed clearly

FAQ

Switching agents: your questions answered

Can’t find what you’re looking for?Talk to our team.

  • Can I change letting agent during a tenancy?

Usually yes, subject to the terms of your current agreement. Some agreements include notice periods or continuing fees, which we help you identify. Take legal advice if the terms are unclear.

  • Will my tenant have to sign a new tenancy?

Not usually. The tenancy is between you and the tenant, so it normally continues; only the managing agent changes.

  • What happens to the deposit?

It must stay protected. We arrange the transfer or confirm the protection details as part of the handover.

  • What if my old agent will not hand over records?

We request them formally on your behalf. If problems continue, we can suggest next steps, including legal advice.

  • Will you check compliance when you take over?

Yes. We review safety records and documents and tell you what is missing.

  • What does management cost?

Fees are disclosed in writing at appraisal, before you instruct us.
