Expats in Dubai

Already living in Dubai? Buy your home with a clear plan

Many expats rent for years before deciding to buy. The decision depends on how long you expect to stay, your deposit, mortgage eligibility and what you would pay in rent instead. We set those out honestly, then search and buy on your behalf if buying makes sense.

  • Rent versus buy compared honestly
  • Freehold communities shortlisted
  • Mortgage introductions available

FAQ

Expats in Dubai: your questions answered

Can’t find what you’re looking for?Talk to our team.

  • Can expats buy property in Dubai?

Yes. Foreign nationals can buy in designated freehold areas. We focus your search on those areas.

  • Is it better to rent or buy in Dubai?

It depends on how long you will stay, your deposit and the costs of buying and owning. We compare both with your figures rather than giving a general answer.

  • Can I get a mortgage as a resident expat?

Many residents do, subject to the lender’s criteria. We introduce you to lenders or brokers; we do not give mortgage advice ourselves.

  • What happens to my home if I leave the UAE?

You can usually keep it and let it, or sell it. Our lettings and sales desks can help with either from abroad.

  • Does owning property give me residency?

Property can be relevant to some residency routes. Rules are set by the authorities and change, so see our Golden Visa page and take advice.

  • What are the buying costs?

The DLD transfer fee of 4% of the price is the main one, plus registration and agency fees, and mortgage registration if you borrow.

  • How do you charge?

Our fee structure is agreed in writing before the mandate starts.
